After Def Jam: Icon, many developers moved over to work on the Marvel game that needed to get some major systems in place for upcoming deadlines. A small group of about half of the developers that worked on Def Jam: Icon started work on the next revision of that game. It was dubbed Def Jam: Icon 2, although it would have been the fourth title to be released in the Def Jam series from EA. I took on more responsibility with this project, owning the camera system again, but also gaining responsibility in several other areas of the game. Included were: environment animation, music event system, and the particle art pipeline. About halfway through development on this game EA Chicago closed it's doors and the entire staff was layed off. The Marvel and Def Jam: Icon 2 projects were cancelled.
Responsibilities:
- Gameplay cameras
- Camera debug tools
- Camera animation tools
- Environment animation runtime and pipeline
- Music event system runtime, pipeline, and tools
- Particle art pipeline
