Overview:
This project was Scientific Games' first attempt at a skill based slot machine. The project was built on new technology within the company that used the Unity game engine instead of relying on the proprietary WMS engine we had been using. Since I had been using Unity already for a few years on side projects of my own, I was able to get something running rather quickly. I managed to get a G2E demo complete in about 3 months that was able to show off the gameplay well enough to get the idea across. Completing the game would take a lot longer and this project dragged on for almost 2 years. It turns out that alot of issues come up when releasing a skill based slot machine with many new regulations. In the end, the project was completed and I had so much fun working on the video game portion of the game that I was ready to get back to making games that were not slot machines. The timing was right for a new project starting at Stern Pinball and I joined them in the Summer of 2017.
