Jurassic Park

Platforms: Spike2
Developer: Stern Pinball
Genre: Pinball Machine
My time on project: Jan. 2019 to Feb. 2020

Overview:
I teamed up with Iron Maiden designer Keith Elwin again for my second project as Lead Software Engineer at Stern Pinball. The game contains about 18 modes and a unique and deep ruleset designed by Keith. The most interesting thing on this project was the giant ball eating T-Rex. The T-Rex is a fully animatronic device that uses 2 motors, a magnet, and a solenoid for jaw movement. During gameplay the T-Rex can lower it's head onto the ramp and open it's mouth for the ball to be shot into the mouth and caught. This was obviously the most fun and challenging part of this project. For this project I had more Support Software Engineers than on Iron Maiden at one point having five support programmers working on the project. Despite having more programmers, we still had to hurry up to release the game early because of another shift in project schedules. The game released on schedule and we were able to finish it in about 13 months. In the end the project turned out great and got rave reviews from some in the pinball community and also took home another Game of the Year TWIPY in 2019.
